As a renovation of the hall was required, the acoustics of the hall could be improved as the hall suffered from strong flutter echoes and lack of resonance. The interior of the dome was recreated such that the absorption was reduced and the focussing of sound minimised (Peutz consulting engineers). However, the reverberation time and level was predicted to be too low and a further architectural reduction of the absorption was not possible. This led to adding negative absorption using Multiple Channel amplification of Reverberation (MCR). For this project a MCR system was designed, tuned and commissioned and fine tuned using a live orchestra. MCR made it possible here to make the sound of the hall powerful and warm.
